I just wanted to say thanks a lot for working on bringing out these awesome books as d20 adventures! Caverns of the Snow Witch and Firetop Mountain finally arrived today and I am very impressed. I was completely obsessed with FF during my childhood and now I finally get a chance to put all my friends through the adventures too!
Keep up the good work, I know how hard it is in this industry and wish you all the best of luck.
Now you are going to do Creature of Havoc next aren't you... please say yes :)

Adam,
Many thanks for your kind words and praise. It is very appreciated mate
I too was totally obsessed with Fighting Fantasy during my childhood (and I must say still am). It was a dream come true to meet Steve Jackson for the first time last year as he is one of my all time heroes (SORCERY! Being my favourite FF books).
Creature of Havoc isn’t on our immediate ‘to do’ list: SORCERY! Parts 3-4 and City of Thieves are this years priorities. However, I do keep a list of what people would like to see converted to d20 and CoH is very high on that list (along with Forest of Doom, Citadel of Chaos, House of Hell and Island of the Lizard King).
SORCERY! The Shamutanti Hills and Deathtrap Dungeon should be available in the States very soon (and of course here in the UK). I hope you enjoy them as much as Warlock and Caverns.

How will House of Hell be done? Its a modern day adventure so will be done as a D20 Modern (Its that OGL) or will it just be written as is?

While I can't speak for Myriador, I think House of Hell can be done by using the generic d20 rules. Although a modern day setting, i can't really recall anything in there (apart from the opening scene) that really requires the use of d20 modern. |

I have always envisaged House of Hell being a d20 Modern adventure. That is my secong fav RPG next to D&D
There is an SRD for d20 Modern Eryx (cant remember the URL off hand)
Not sure what Starship Traveller would be though. T20 (traveller)?

Hmmm, had never heard of the books before. Just went to half.com and bought:
1.The Warlock of Firetop Mountain
(Paperback, Reissue, 1984)
Puffin Original Edition
2.Caverns of the Snow Witch
(Paperback, Illustrated, 1984)
3.The Shamutanti Hills
(Paperback, 1984)
4.Deathtrap Dungeon
(Paperback, 1984)
They look intriguing.

an interesting one to do would be appointment with FEAR, cos like house of hell it could be used as a starter point for people to do campaigns in a different setting.
i just got the warlock d20 module for my birthday, my girlfriend managed to find a copy signed by jamie, martin mckenna (the artist) and STEVE JACKSON! yeah baby! :)
although i only found out last week that the steve jackson of steve jackson games isnt our fighting fantasy steve jackson, how confusing is that! |

Now imagine the confusion I caused in the states a couple of weeks ago at Gen Con trying to sell FF adventutes to Americans who thought that our Steve was the Car Wars guy!!!

it was even worse as i have the original warlock of firetop mountain boardgame and it has a sheet in it with games workshop games in it, and one of them is car wars, so i thought, oh steve jackson did all this too, what a guy! :S
i always like the idea of GW being a proper roleplaying place, with alot of variety, anyone else have the floorplans like halls of horror (the cover of whichwas the same as house of hell), i loved that stuff. now if its not WH40k or WH its not there. and i still think its funny how they i once asked them how to paint a figure, which turned out to be a "middle earth" brand figure, and they jokingly pretending to spit on it in hatred, and now they push LOTR for all its worth! hehe
i suppose you could be sly and pretend it is the same steve jackson if it looks like it will help the sale...;) |
