I really liked the books, back when I was a kid. From the reviews it sounds like I'll enjoy the trip down memory lane, but it sounds like it could also be an excellent adventure to play some 1:1 with my son, who is just expressing interest in D&D. Would you say that's so?

Absolutely! We know of a few Father (DM) and Son (first time player) combos that are using our products, one of them is the author himself :-)
