Hi, first I'd like to say that I love the D20 conversion of Sorcery!, I've been a fan for many years and think this a great job.
Having said that, I'm wondering about the exclusion of gnomes generally in the two modules released so far and about the omission specifically of the gnome running the magic shop in Northside Khare (who has inexplicably been replaced by a half-celestial...).
I like the gnomish merchant and was wondering what the rationale was for changing that character. Thanks! |

I can answer that question for you:
When we first developed the ideas behind Myriador, the FFRPG was always a consideration for compatability. As you may or may not know, the FFRPG is geared towards first time RPGers (young teens etc) or gamers with little to no experience.
At the time of writing the SORCERY! 2 conversion, gnomes had been dropped completely from the FFRPG.
Getting back to your original question, gnomes were omitted from the FFRPG as character races along with halflings. However, gnomes DO appear in the monster section to the FFRPG. The reason they dont appear in the SORCERY!2 conversion is because we were going to omit the race altogether.
We arent now :)
Hope this helps

Thank you for the explanation, it makes sense (but still hurts a little, I'm very partial to gnomes...). I'm glad you've decided to include them in the FFRPG, though. I look forward to the next stages of the converted SORCERY! adventure, keep up the good work! |
