My personal favorite. Anyone else enjoyed this book from the series?
I remember it being very hard to finish. Some of the rooms were downright morbid...I remember not wanting to turn the page to read what was next. (Yeah, I sound corny but I was only 13 when I bought the book in the 80's)
If anyone cares or knows the answer to this:
Why the name change from House of Hell (UK) to House of Hades (american release)? Or is it the other way around?
I figure someone might have thought the word "hell" to be a little bit on the curse-word side here in the states
(here's another request to turn this devil into a d20 adventure! solo or not!) |

I'm pretty sure that's the exact reason.

Pretty bizarre, really.
Anyone remember that whole moral/religious backlash that occurred to TSR when roleplayers were being accused of nothing short of devil-worshipping? Heh, heh, heh!
I think it was the reason why devils, demons, etc., were renamed to baatezu and tanar'ri, etc.
And didn't it have something to do with TSR's new boss? A lady who threw a duckfit when she saw the new artwork that was released in Palace of the Silver Princess and recalled it all or something.
I love those new "THIS GAME IS FANTASY" sidebars that are in the intros on the 3e books. Ha! Always brings a smile to my face when I consider that some people fear for our 'immortal souls' because we sit around a table, roll dice and pretend to be summoning fiends to do our bidding.
But, yeah! A d20 Modern House of Hell/Hades would be absolutely fantastic. I converted parts of this to 1e D&D years ago. Still have the house map somewhere, I think. |

That’s a thought. Taking parts of the house and implementing it in D&D (or oad&d). I remember dreading the fact of having to map out the books. I did it for Warlock but never for any others, too lazy I guess.
RE:(Batezoo or tenari or whatever)
I remember those T$R days. I’m glad they are long gone. Re-naming and getting rid of devils and demons was pretty bad, one of many goofy things they did in the late eighties and nineties, fortunately I realized it pretty early on and never really bought too much material from them. (Actually the only thing I did buy were the 2nd edition rules which I tossed out after a few years).
